2016 Pink Beetle
Some people have such a commanding presence, that when they enter a room, it’s like there’s an electric charge in the air. Now there’s a car that fits that bill too. It’s called the #PinkBeetle – yes, it’s named with a hashtag – and aside from the colour, it’s pretty much your average Beetle. Under the hood, you’ve got a 1.8-litre turbo-four, rated at 170 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque, which is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.
There’s absolutely no mistaking the “Fresh Fuchsia” metallic paint, fashionably accented with black trim on the mirrors and running boards. Inside, pink accents highlight the doors, steering wheel clip, radio, air vents, floor mats and seats. And the seats are the definition of swank with gorgeous black and grey checkerboard upholstery with pink stitching.
Inside, there’s just as much pink – it’s on the doors and the seats, which are finished with a plaid design similar to the GTI. Completing the package is Volkswagen’s latest infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The #PinkBeetle also features gloss black mirror caps and running boards, HID headlights with LED daytime running, LED tail lights and 17-inch wheels are standard on coupe versions. The convertible version equipment is nearly identical, but adds a black convertible soft top in place of the coupe’s sunroof.
