Start-stop technology saves you fuel by shutting down the engine during complete stops and using the electric motor when coasting. Regenerative braking ingeniously converts the heat created by the vehicle into electricity that charges the battery. And with an aerodynamically designed front end with active grille shutters, the Jetta Turbocharged Hybrid cuts through wind drag and cuts down fuel consumption incredibly well. 7-speed automatic DSG
Unique for hybrids, the Jetta Turbocharged Hybrid achieves ultra-fast and incredibly smooth shifting times by using a 7-speed automatic DSG with Tiptronic® technology. Enhancing performance and fuel economy, Tiptronic® also provides the convenience of an automatic transmission with the joy of a sporty manual.
Hybrid technology
Fuel-saving and fun-raising, the Jetta Turbocharged Hybrid combines the power of a Volkswagen gas engine with an electric motor and a lightweight lithium-ion battery.
TSI turbocharged engine and electric motor
The Jetta Turbocharged Hybrid’s engine and electric motor boasts power, torque and incredible fuel savings. Built to perform, the Jetta Turbocharged Hybrid features a 1.4 TSI engine and an electric motor that combine for 170 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. What’s more, in full electric mode, the car can drive on zero emissions for 2 km at speeds of up to 70 km/h.*

Lithium-ion Hybrid battery
Designed using some of our most advanced technology to date, the rechargeable 220-volt lithium-ion battery works in tandem with the electric engine to make the Jetta Turbocharged Hybrid the powerfully efficient car that it is.

For example, its regenerative braking system uses stop-and-go city traffic to its advantage by converting the kinetic energy made by the friction of the brakes into energy that recharges the battery. For further efficiency, the engine of the Jetta Turbocharged Hybrid is programmed to shut off at stoplights and other full stops. It restarts effortlessly as soon as you release the brake pedal. Even in E-mode, the Turbocharged Hybrid motor can maintain speeds of 70 km/h for up to 2 km on electric power alone.* A hybrid with unprecedented power, the Jetta Turbocharged Hybrid makes its mark with an incredibly small footprint.
